3 Ways to Find Light in the Midst of Darkness

Darkness is something that can easily consume our lives. If left unchecked, it can even change who we are as a person. But, I am here to tell you how to find the light in the darkness. There is always light to be found, you just have to know where to look. Below are 3 ways to find the light within the darkness.

  1. Be strong.

Being strong is the most important thing when you are surrounded by darkness. The darkness can consume you ONLY if you allow it. So, are you just going to stand there and let the darkness take over your life, or are you going to stand up and fight back?

Arnold Schwarzenegger once said, “Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength”. Strength becomes greater through every hardship that you battle. If you or a loved one is going through cancer, fight every battle that you can and you will keep growing stronger. Becoming stronger is the key to finding the light and driving out darkness.

  1. Reach out to others.

It is never good to battle things alone. Just like going to war. Always have an army to back you up. Reach out to anyone that is willing to help through your darkness. For example: if your child is going through DIPG cancer, reach out to the Cristian Rivera Foundation. We are here to fight the battle for you. Never go into the darkness alone. Always have someone by your side to help shine the light to find your way out of the darkness

  1.  Realize that “Darkness” isn’t really a thing.

You’re probably wondering, “What does he mean?” Well, darkness isn’t just nothing or complete blackness. Darkness is actually just the absence of light. Meaning, in every darkness, there still is light. You just have to find it. Darkness can’t exist without light. Some darkness is greater than others, but there is always light to be found.

Let’s say darkness is consuming your life right now. You don’t know what to do and you feel lost. That everything feels hopeless. Maybe your child has cancer, maybe you’re in a depression, or maybe even going through a breakup. All these things are different types of darkness, but you have to be able to find the light in these situations to battle through it.

If you are at a point in your life where it is impossible for you to find the light. Then create your own light. Be the one to create that light and drive out the darkness in your life. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can.” Darkness can be driven out by the light just as hate can be driven out by love. Be the one to create or find that light to drive out your darkness. I don’t know how many times I allowed darkness to defeat me until I started being thankful for the little things in life.
