ABOUT CRF AND OUR ANNUAL 5K:<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The goal of the 9th Annual CRF Full Steam Ahead 5K is to raise awareness and funds for D.I.P.G. research and family support. For details on the various levels of sponsorship for the 5K, continue scrolling below.<\/span><\/p>

Proceeds from the 5K will support innovative research and clinical trials for Dr. Mark Souweidane of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Weill Cornell Medical College, as well as the research being conducted at the Mount Sinai Kravis Children\u2019s Hospital lab of Dr. Oren Becher. Funding also goes towards raising awareness and giving financial support to families affected by D.I.P.G.<\/span><\/p>

Dr. Mark Souweidane, responsible for so much of the hope we have for finding a D.I.P.G cure, shares this, \u201c<\/span>This event isn\u2019t just about crossing the finish line. It\u2019s about raising awareness, honoring his brave patients who are fighting brain tumors, and supporting groundbreaking research that offers real hope. The Children\u2019s Brain Tumor Project is proud to be part of this important cause. Every step we take brings us closer to better treatments, brighter futures, and one day, a cure.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

D.I.P.G. generally affects children between the ages of 1 year and 12 years old. The average lifespan of a child, after diagnosis, falls between 3 and 18 months. Approximately 200 cases are discovered in the United States each year. Currently, there is no cure for D.I.P.G. This rare disease is also the least funded form of cancer in the United States in terms of research and treatment.<\/span><\/p>

Over the last 17 years, through tireless work and dedication from volunteers and generous supporters like you, CRF has become a beacon of hope and promise for families that are impacted by D.I.P.G. Our foundation has become one of the country\u2019s largest donors to D.I.P.G. research. Our dedication, coupled with the work of Dr. Mark Souweidane and Dr. Oren Becher, has produced a handful of survivors of D.I.P.G. One of the participants of our clinical trial, Lisha Ayala, has been living with D.I.P.G. for an unprecedented 13 years with no tumor growth.<\/span><\/p>
