Callie is a 6 year old sassy, spunky girl who loves anything girly. Callie was born on April 18th, 2017 and was diagnosed with DIPG on January 14th, 2023. Callie has been doing very well with her treatment and has been trying hard to overcome any obstacles in her way.
In January 2023, Callie went to the doctor to check for a possible lazy eye. What was thought to be a small issue led to a CT scan, an MRI, and ultimately a diagnosis of DIPG, Chiari Malformation and a fluid-filled cyst in the spinal cord, called a syrinx.
Callie completed 30 rounds of radiation and recently became the first patient in the United States to participate in a new clinical trial that brings hope to Callie and her family. She has done exceptionally well with every challenge and keeps on smiling.
Callie’s mom, Stephanie, says that “if it wasn’t for childhood cancer research, we would be looking at only months or weeks to spend with our child. Thankfully, we are participating in a trial where we have hope that we will have Callie much longer than the typical life expectancy of 12 months post-diagnosis. Research has given us more time with our precious girl and we hope and pray for a scan one day of ‘no evidence of disease!'”
